These math teachers were recently honored at the Mobile High Users Event hosted by Explore Learning.*

*ExploreLearning Gizmos, the world's largest library of interactive online simulations for math and science education in grades 3-12.

Participation in Gizmos is required for all sixth grade math students at PPS. Phillips’ students earned the school leadership award. Thomas, Eiland, and Barnes were also recognized as the top middle school participants in the county. “We all worked together in the math department to implement this new program, and it paid off for our students; these awards we won are due to the hard work and dedication of the entire 6th grade student body,” Eiland said.

Carmen Tate, a sixth grader at Phillips Preparatory School said, “Gizmos are a wonderful tool to use because the simulations help you to understand the lesson that your teacher is teaching in the classroom.” The students can work on Gizmos from their home computers as well as the math lab during school.

The Gizmo program will be a part of the continuing education program this summer for our incoming 6th graders and the current 7th and 8th grade students.

Congratulations to the 6th grade math teachers and students for a job well done!
