ORIENTATION for PARENTS of Students New to Phillips

On Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 12:00 noon and at 6:00 p.m., we will hold orientation meetings for parents of new students in the GYM. You need to attend only ONE of the scheduled meetings.

In order to complete the final commitment process, your child must meet the following criteria:

ENTERING GRADE 6: 

• Most recent STAR Reading test and score on grade level or above.
• Most recent STAR Math test and score on grade level or above.
• Present final report card showing
  o A grade of "C" or higher in reading and math
  o Placement in the next grade.
  o No failures in any other subject.
  o No more than 5 unexcused absences.
  o No more than 15 unexcused tardies.
  o No more than 10 referrals for "B" offenses in Chalkable in the last 2 years.

ENTERING GRADE 7 & 8:  

• Most recent STAR Reading test and score on grade level or above.
• Most recent STAR Math test and score on grade level or above.
• Present final report card showing
  o Placement in the next grade.
  o A grade of "C" or higher in language arts and math
  o No failures in any subjects.
  o No more than 5 unexcused absences.
  o No more than 15 unexcused tardies.
  o No more than 10 referrals for "B" offenses in Chalkable in the last 2 years.
 

**Ifyour child does not meet the above criteria, your child WILL NOT be able to attend Phillips.

  • Online Registration 
  • Recommended Summer Reading 
  • Summer Mathematics Information 
  • PIRATE/fECHNOLOGY CAMP (June 12-15)

*Report card must be turned in before attending the camp.

ONLINE REGISTRATION AND PROOF OF RESIDENCE: 
Online Registration should be completed prior to the meeting. The username and password were sent home in the third quarter report card. If you do not have the information, please contact your child's elementary school for the information. 

If a student attends a private school, then the parent will need to go on the mcpss.com website, click on
registration and "new student" to complete the online registration process. During the week of June 12-15, (7:30am-12:00pm), parents must bring a photo ID and two proofs of residence (electric, cable, water, etc.) to complete the online registration process. Private school students will need to bring birth certificate, social security card, photo ID, and the two proofs of residence.

2017-18 REGISTRATION FEES:
FEES FOR THE 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR ARE $35.00 AND INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • CORE COURSES 
  • FOREIGN LANGUAGE
  • EXPLORATORY
  • SCIENCE LAB
  • PLANNER
  • COMPUTER MAINTENANCE
  • FIRST AID
  • POSTAGE

 

Fees will be collected during the meeting or fees may be paid online (phillipsprep.com) through the district's eFund paying system. Please look on the left side of the website for the eFund link and follow the instructions.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION UNIFORMS ARE REQUIRED AT PHILLIPS.
The warm weather uniforn is a 50/50 poly-cotton blend T-shirt and shorts. The cost is $10.00 for each piece. Returning Phillips' students are not required to purchase new unifonns. Winter-wear will be available later in the school year for $15 for each piece.
